Day one Milngavie to Drymen, Sunday 4th May

Slept well in the BestFootForward guest house in Milngavie, a relatively easy day 12 miles according to the guide book. Just perfect to get those joints moving.
There must have been 15 walkers all starting at ~ 9am on this Sunday morning  we set off at a good pace and worked our way through chatting to folks as we passed them.
Stopping for some arty misty shoots of webs on the various plants we passed.
It was easy walking along a woodland path and then along a made path through fields along the valleys of the Blane and Endrick, the good views of the Campsie Fells didn't appear as the cloud base was so low.
We had to take the side trip to the Glengoyne Distillery, had an hours break from walking learning how they made the golden nectar. Two wee drams made the afternoon so much easier.
Returning to walking the low cloud had progressed to heavy drizzle I had been walking in my waterproofs all morning Allan put his on and we walked on towards Drymen, breaking out the emergency rations two pieces of Jacqui's rocky road and an apple each got us fuelled up to walk to Drymen we were going so well we missed the sign to Drymen and were on day twos walk already,
as the civilisation cleared we realised our mistake retraced our steps and soon arrived at Braeside guest house where Colin and Steve were most welcoming, pot of tea made and biscuits devoured!
After an excellent shower we are feeling fit to tackle the step across the road for some beer and sustenance.
We seemed well chilled listening to a little Van The Man.
A good first day sat nav says 14.7 miles, 1099 feet of ascent, heart monitor 3325 calories so time to retire to the inn to replace a few of those used.

Well done for taking the undertaking so seriously that you found time to visit the Glengoyne Distillery! The most interesting part of the first day.
